This wedding is just the cutest. All 1950s frocks, sunshine yellow and a lot of fun.
WWW readers Daniel and Andrea tied the knot on the 30th July 2015 at Pembroke Lodge in Surrey. They hoped to create a wedding which was chilled out using local suppliers and vintage styles. Sounds just perfect doesn’t it? They kept to a budget of £12 000 thanks to some crafty touches and competition wins.
I so love Andrea’s gorgeous Oh My Honey polka dot dress with yellow sash, which was complimented perfectly by the Vivien of Holloway bridesmaid dresses. Daisy flowers and kraft paper stationery completed the look wonderfully.
Ross Hurley Photography, thanks so much today for sharing these glorious images.

THE PROPOSAL | We had a comedy show booked for the evening in London and thought it would be good to make the most of the day and head into the city. We went to the Science museum then onto Hyde Park (where we had our first date) he dropped down to one knee with a beautiful ring and Andie said yes! Then he said we had a champagne flight on the London eye before the comedy show. It was perfect and a combination of a few of our past dates.
THE VISION | A chilled out family get-together in a beautiful park using local suppliers were possible. We wanted vintage styles and summer colours to compliment the English setting.
THE PLANNING PROCESS | Dan bought me a planning book and the rest was Pinterest inspired. We used a to-do white board with a few things to do each month and split up tasks according to who was more skilled/interested. We kept track on excel too. Andie also entered a few competitions as it is a bit of a hobby of hers. Friends and family were fantastic as helping too.
BUDGET | Between 8-12 k
THE VENUE | Pembroke Lodge Richmond Park London
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Handmade by the very talented Laura from Oh My Honey in Brighton. Shoes size 3 Irregular Choice . Headband Glitzy Secrets. Nails (polka dot) Kiss and Make up Twickenham.
FINDING THE DRESS | Being short it was somewhat of a challenge! Andie went dress shopping with her mother and sister-in-law but couldn’t find anything that felt personal. She didn’t like the idea of dresses being made in China and wanted input into the design. Andie knew she wanted a knee length dress and many shops simply didn’t offer this (one offered to chop a dress in half!) . She had seen a few on Etsy when she stumbled across Oh My Honey. Laura sent samples of materials and was always more than happy to answer emails. When it arrived in a golden box it felt like Christmas and was exactly how I imagined it.
GROOM’S ATTIRE | Moss Bros. Grey with yellow ties.
THE READINGS & MUSIC | Andie’s brother read All I Really Need To Know.
I Learned In Kindergarten by Robert Fulghum which was relevant for us as Andie is a primary school teacher. Also Dan’s sister read ‘When the one you love.’
Music wise we love acoustic music and used a variety. Aisle song was ‘Can’t help falling in love with you’ by Ingrid Michaelson.
Exit song was ‘You make my dreams come true.’ By Hall and Oates.
Wedding breakfast music by Post Modern Jukebox (who are touring in 2016).
First Dance ‘My new number 1’ by Beans on toast.
BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | We went to Vivien of Hollway and found beautiful purple halter neck circle dresses to go with our theme. We added purple petticoats and a polka dot bow for their hair. I bought them floral dressing gowns from Etsy to get ready in too.
THE FLOWERS | Our local flower shop always has beautiful displays and Nicola was an amazing person to work with. We wanted seasonal and natural looking flowers so went with a meadow just-picked theme. It’s a bonus the she had an adorable dog too.
THE CAKE | Dan’s mum found the very talented baker Catherine from Reading. She got our brief spot on! We wanted a floral cake with similar flowers to the ones we had chosen. The fillings were chocolate and it was delicious.
YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | The very generous Ross Hurley. We entered a competition to win our photography and won! Our friends and family were very supportive in helping us to gain likes on facebook and he was such a brilliant part of our day. Such a talented guy and a true gentleman we would highly recommend him.
THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Andie’s mum helped decorate cans and plant flowers for the aisle and shelves. The birdcages came from a competition from Wedding Ideas. Andie made the name cards and table names. We named the tables after some of our date nights to make it more personal. Etsy is a fantastic place for personal touches our ring box came from Poland and our cake topper was from Uk. It’s great to support crafters and there is a whole heap of talent out there.
THE HONEYMOON | A 11 day Contiki trip around Europe from Amsterdam to Austria, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and France. Special thanks to our tour guide Jess and driver Emilio for making it truly memorable. It was all very romantic and we ended it by volunteering at Beautiful Days festival with Oxfam our new bell tent.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS | A fantastic drive in a stunning VW camper with my Dad, beautiful bridesmaids and charming driver Owen. Our niece (Juliette) shouting out ‘No’ during a vital part of the ceremony and attempting to escape out of an open window. The cardboard cut out of Olly Murs entertaining out guests by the bar. Gingerbread men decorating between guests. Our first dance to Beans on Toast.
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Make sure you give yourselves plenty of time to plan out your wedding – breaking it down into monthly chunks made it a lot less overwhelming. Don’t forget to submit your readings in plenty of time that was one of the things that slipped our mind. People will tell you what you want but be yourselves and if that means being different then embrace it. Smile and be loved.
